Artist's Comments
This is my first dragon submission, and I'm proud of it. Inspired by the Aztec serpent god, Quetzalcoatl. In this picture, he's launching from his perch upon an Aztec temple and into the night sky.
Funnily enough, at first I meant for him to be a Chinese dragon with arms, but I couldn't get them right without making them look ridiculous, so I turned them into wings. My mom's close friend thinks it looks like he's evolved wings from hands. My Spanish teacher just thinks he looks scary, and she's the one who taught me about Quetzalcoatl and the Aztecs in the first place!
The coloring on this guy took forever - and I STILL don't think he has enough color to him! Hmm... maybe less blue next time?
